C45plz.

City 45 was a much better city that City 17. First off, you may say, a map change doesn't equal RP.

In my eyes, City 45 was our best times.

The less space you have, the more condensed the citizens are. The more condensed, the more interactions. In I17, civies either go to D6, a hub for the citizens. While in C45, the plaza looks nice, and is small enough to patrol well, benches, ration station right outside the trainstation. It's good. Mainly we've been lacking in Plaza, the first thing every newfeg sees. If we get a better plaza, we get a better server. That's my proposal.

I remember rping on this map long ago (When I was a newbie) I found it easy to navigate, easy to understand, and it actually made me want to be a citizen instead of a webul.

C45 is my favorite (and first played-HL2RP-on) map and the guy's been pushing out plenty of updates lately.

It's smaller than I17 and C18, but larger than C08. It's not perfect for our needs, but it sure is pretty close.

Lets not start arguing about what map is better and which is not, especially when making posts that have 0 justification what so ever.

Anyways, my thoughts on C45. It's a nicely balanced map, where people tend to veer away from the slums (I think it's due to the fact that it's so separated from the plaza). Though with that said many people hang out there more often. I wouldn't mind making the shift back to that map seeing as people seem to want it for legitimate reasoning. I do remember a lot of great memories from that map, that said, the map will not change the troubles and difficulties which already persist within our;

-Lore
-Structure
-Rules
-RP quality

That is for the community to fix no matter which map it resides in.

If I damage my arm by falling from a cliff, it doesn't matter where I am, that arm is going to still be damaged and if I try to get back out in action too quickly or too drastically I could further damage my arm.

Now apply that analogy to our server.

Could be better. I'm not sure how much better though. I mean, a map switch isn't the biggest deal in history. There's only one way to truly know if it'll be better or worse, try it. I say we give it a good run and see if it is better or worse. +Support

I agree with pretty much everyone. I had some really awesome times in C45 when I first started hl2rp. However....The main problem with that map, is the lack of slums. Litterally, its two blocks and a canal from what my character has seen and at the back of the canal theres a ONE good hiding spot that has a secret entrace and there are factories. I think that map gives cps the better sides of the deal. C17 has a good slums, but is REALLY lacking in it's plaza. Most people go to D6 because there is literally nothing to do in the plaza(especially on this server) the reason for that is that anything that seems of intrest and could be a civi hangout. Is UU locked. So really, citizens can only go in the apartments as a hang out.

C18
Pros:
-Great plaza
-Nice Nexus
-cool places to hang out and a lot for the citizens to explore in the plaza alone.
Cons:
-Not that well defined or extremely limited slums

C17
Pros:
-Well defined borders into the slums
-Nicely done slums
-Rebels atcually have a base of opperation and there are plenty of hiding spots and a refugee hand out.
-Lot of secrets to explore and hidden passages.
Cons:
-Boring Plaza
-Basic Nexus
-Webuls because all the fun shit is in D6 for a normal citizen.

So basicly, it boils down to:
C17= Good Rebel/Slums Map.
C18= Good Plaza/Civil Protection Map.

I'd be fine with a map switch, just as long as my chars aren't really stripped of everything I've/they've worked for. +Support.

I disagree with borders to slums being well-defined as a good thing. I adored C08 because there wasn't just an idea of areas you simply need not to be in, but there's clear areas that are frowned upon being in, and a lot of other maps fail to have that. That element has brought us so many opportunities for RP in TEH/TC's History. C45 Succeeding some in this, but we don't have a high enough pop even at our spikes to sustain such a large map. But then again, C45 has many aspects that exceed my standard for a good map, such as showers, laundry machines, bathrooms, and at least 1 common recreational building for citizens, an organized and easy to navigate nexus, a dirtied and vague slums. The map can easily be adopted to fit our population by doing the same thing we've done in early-I17, C08, and I believe at one point C18; simply completely blocking off an unnecessary section of the map.

But I really what to emphasize this: An extremely clear and distinct slums area ruins RP. This happens because there is simply no "ghetto" or culture that surround any part of this border to make anything special happen. In C08, people got mugged, assaulted, murdered, and the likes all the time in D6, and it was truly beautiful.

Culture of HL2RP and our lore really needs to hug the next map we host or simply be injected onto our current one.

I17's plaza is large enough, but there's noone of a high enough status that can keep it interesting. C18 was good, but with the same issue + our lore kind of demanded it since be actually bombed the shitbutt out of D6.

I would be fine with returning to our older maps however, considering that during the time we were gone there may have been time to fix up those cities, and there's lots of opportunity for RP + Events in that.

Clear borders between slums/plaza = no. No. That's what I don't like about I17 and C45, honestly. C08 did a much better job of that.

I really don't like C18, though. I'd prefer we switched to either C45 or C08. Those two maps have more of a feeling of the Combine being a heavy prescence instead of just a city with some Combine-looking buildings from time to time.

I think in a way, C45 does favor more... CCA type RP. But in retrospect, if you want to be a rebel, and shoot up some CPs, everyone is close enough to watch. It feels like you notice rebellion. If they want to be badbois, everyone will know. Watch the firefights right in that road between plaza and D6. Amazing stuff in C45. Everything is showcased from the center, with the closer you go to the nexus or the slums slowly becoming more... Rebellious or Loyal.

I +support this but I recommend using the map City 45 2013 (not just the City 45 one) it is more fresh and looks nicer.


But the plaza is my biggest concern. We need to make it less boring and open. Maybe put some stall (shops) to sell stuff or other cool things. Anyways I do like City 45 2013.
