Material Respawns

I think it is great that we have the crafting mod but there's a problem with the materials, they don't respawn. I think that the materials should respawn daily so it isn't just rocks and car batteries laying around, because lets face it, they're completely worthless. There isn't enough materials to go around, I understand this mod helps with RP and creativity, but car batteries and rocks aren't really that useful.

Some materials will be rarer than others by their very nature. Like, you'll definitely find rocks laying around everywhere, but the odds of you finding a broken 9mm laying around will be extremely low.

Yeah I was planning on getting this and adding it to our server. With this plugin I saw you can set custom spawn points for items and set them from uncommon, common, rare, and EXTREMELY RARE. So items like cloth and metal can be spawned at times but pistols and such will be extremely random.

Plus it is really easy to move the spawn points around so people won't meta and just keep going to the same spot.

Well there is a free version and a paid version. The free version just spawns stuff from 1-2 hours, and it MAY be a bit buggy. The paid one ($15 no biggie) can be set to common - rare like I have said. Plus with the paid one there is an ESP so admins can see where the spawnpoint is when they are on observer. I will test the free one out today, if it doesn't work we will have to wait until I buy the paid one.

The problem with spawners is the same problem 90% of MMORPGs have, and that's camping. People will sit around the spawnpoints for hours trying to get stuff, so if there is a function that will allow you to set a spawning radius or maybe have a crazy long wait for items to spawn, like, 4-6 hours at least, that may be not be a problem.

Like it said you can customize it so it spawns stuff that are common (fast spawns) and REALLY RARE (Long ass spawns) plus these can be moved around really easily so people can't just camp them.

Yea that would be good, because the point of the server is to RP not to sit around for loot, that just completely ruins the experience.

Exactly. Plus spawns will not be frequent. The whole point is to RP, you may find a few items once and awhile but do not ask admins to spawn stuff.

Not to mention, the whole point of playing hl2rp is to develop your character, not to collect items. I mean, items influence rp, but there is a vast difference when comparing Lolrunning around the map searching for guns everywhere and loot and developing your character and having a reason to do that stuff, or maybe... you just find it and hang on to it for good measure? It should all depend purely on the characters motives and skill experience within reasonable lines. Don't just say you are a mechanic and then lolrun to the nearest thing needing to be fixed and type "/me fixes machine". You should at least look up how to fix that particular thing online if you literally have no idea or just add lib in detail how you think to logically fix it. Same goes with crafting, which is one flaw I see. Anybody, and I mean anybody, despite having no IC knowledge can make a crossbow with enough materials, how would they even have the impulse to create such a thing?! How would they have the impulse to create resistance uniforms? How would they know how to craft these items at all? One thing I wish was, In order to craft these, you need to be taught somehow and until then, they are locked or something.

The sad thing is, everybody isn't always fair, they would just say YEAH I KNOW HOW TO MAKE EVERYTHING. It's the sad truth of RP and we need to establish a better system to creating things.

I say that the only way a citizen would know how to make anything MP7 up would be if they are a trained engineer with those weapons and learned through a rebel or something who has been tinkering with those things for a while. We need to implement a system which involves crafting of certain items to be restricted along IC lines. I mean we already limit the use of Asspulled overpowered characters so, I propose we limit to crafting of weapons to only a pistol of a citizen if they are able to actually gather the parts and use common sense to make it, though icly crafted items by someone with low sense or skill on the matter would also imply it isn't very effective or pristine at all. I will have a look at all the craft-able items and work to establishing a rule structure behind crafting.

Well I am changing the recipe so you need a blueprint for any item you craft (with the possibility of clothes, but they won't be rebel clothes anymore)
